Fahrenheit 451 Review

Guy Montag is the average firefighter and citizen. As a fireman in a society that embraces technology and repels literature, his job is to burn books and the places in which they are found. As a model citizen, he never questions this. Day after day, he repeats the destruction and then returns home to his dull wife who spends all of her time with her T.V. 'family'. When he meets a new neighbor, though, his perspective starts to change. He begins to see the value of books and questions everything after a few mysterious events.        Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only  my opinion , and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:     When one of my old teachers lent this book to me, I was very excited. She gave me quite a few classic books to read, but this was the one that sou...

Star Rating System

Hey book dragons! It's been a while since I put up a post talking about my methods for reviewing books, so I wanted to bring back this series. This installment will be a quick run down of how I do my rating system .       I use the basic star system. I only use 5 stars because I feel like it is easier to use. I tried the 10 stars once, and I thought it was harder to find the right spot because there were so many numbers in between the middle and the highest/lowest numbers. 5 stars keeps it nice and easy for you to do and simple for readers to understand how you came to that rating.     Here is my quick breakdown of what each level means to me:         ⭐: I very rarely give a book 1 star. When I do, it means I could not find any redeeming qualities                    about it and I just really did not like it . The books awarded 1 star could also be books tha...

The Giver Review

Jonas, a young boy who just turned twelve, lives in a community of sameness. There are no choices, no color, and no real, deep feelings. However, giving these things up allowed for contentment in that there are no war, disputes, or negative things that come with things like choice. It's a seemingly ideal world when you don't know what you are sacrificing. At the ceremony where the twelve-year-olds are given their life assignment. Jonas is assigned to be the Receiver of Memory, but with this job comes the reality of the dark secrets this supposed perfect community is keeping.      Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only  my opinion , and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:     I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I thought it had an interesting concept, but I ten...

Animal Farm Review

A farm run by a drunken Mr.Jones is taken over by its animals that are so unjustly treated. Idealism and slogans spread among the animals, spurring them on to make their goal of living in a place of  justice and equality come to fruition. This satirical fairy tale depicts the unfortunate turn of events that leads a well-meaning revolution into a totalitarianism.       Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only  my opinion , and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:     I was very pleasantly surprised by this novel. When I was first told what it was about I was intrigued, but I also thought it sounded kind of strange. It is definitely not something I ever saw myself reading unless I was forced to for a class because classics are normally not my thing. Every time I have had to re...

The Little Prince Review

In this story, a little prince visits multiple planets throughout space, such as Earth, and learns about what it means to be lonely, lose things, have love, and have friendship. Observations about human nature and life itself are made on his journeys, though the book is written for children.      Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only  my opinion , and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:     I am going to keep this review short (or should I say little? haha) because I really do not have many comments. This is not my typical read, but it came highly recommended and I was lent a copy, so I figured why not? I did not hate it or love it. It was kind of just something I read. I am not sure if that makes sense to anyone other than me, but hopefully you at least somewhat get what I mean. ...
