     After the world as we know it was destroyed by meteors, adjustments were made to help the survivors. The U.S. separated and became four quadrants- North, South, East, and West- governed by The Remnant Council. Ava is simply trying to survive when she winds up in juvenile detention.      This novel takes a look into Cardan during different points in his life. Readers get to see him before The Cruel Prince, after The Queen of Nothing, and during the timeline in between. It is entirely from Cardan's perspective, giving readers more of an insight into who Cardan truly is.       Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion.     Emelina and her sister, Olivia, are both determined to bring peace to Ruina. As their war carried on, though, their ideas of peace began to change. Olivia is focused on hatred and violence, leaving the more diplomatic Em to pick up the pieces. However, now some of the people of Ruina no longer support Olivia. Two sides in Ruina begin to form- Olivia and her supporters, and Em and supporters.
