Breaking Dawn Review

Bella has finally made her decision on whether or not she wants to become immortal. Now, when she is finally experiencing true, unyielding happiness, it could all be taken away permanently. Is she strong enough to fight for her new life, or will her and everyone she loves die for good?

Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:

This conclusion book is formatted a bit differently than the three prior books. Rather than being all from Bella's point of view, some of it is shown through Jacob. The book is split into three parts: the first and third in Bella's perspective, and the second part is from Jacob's perspective. Jacob is probably my favorite character out of all of my amazing options, so I have always been curious to get inside his head more. You can imagine then that I loved the Jacob POV. It provided more of an understanding of the wolves as a whole plus the obvious deeper understanding of the marvelous Jacob Black.
There were a few cool concepts explored in this book. In fact, there was no point where I thought the book was getting boring because a new, interesting topic was always thrown in. The marriage scene was cool (I am not saying to who to avoid spoilers) because readers already know Bella's negative view of marriage. One of my personal favorites though was the entire pregnancy phase. It raised some really great questions, was written extremely well, and I could feel the emotions of all of the characters. I could feel their pain and happiness. The only reason this was possible was because the author allowed me to have such a strong understanding of the characters and their motivations, so when they felt these different emotions during the pregnancy, I could understand them. Then there was the simple fact of them being well written that helped me actually feel those emotions myself.
In Eclipse, readers got to learn a lot more about new borns and what they are capable of. This book expanded even more on their abilities in a very intriguing way. It was much more in depth than it was in Eclipse, so it was even better. Some of the extra powers we get introduced to in this book were also very very cool to read about. Not all of these were from new borns, but I wanted to include them because they were just so cool.
This book had such a nice storyline and climax. The plot felt much more personal and real. I have always loved the plots in the other books, but this one felt different. I could really understand everything from the way the characters were feeling to why there was an issue in the first place. During the climax, I could feel the tension, and I honestly wanted to be able to help Bella for so many different reasons that I cannot say or else I will spoil some major things. The descriptions were absolutely fantastic, and I loved the twists for both Jacob and Alice.
There were some subtle references from prior books and character statements that I appreciated and got super excited over when I caught them. I thought they were a nice little extra thing for fans to put together.
There were a couple of minor setbacks in the book, but nothing too awful. Bella used to seem really close to her mom in my eyes. I did not feel that in this book. It almost felt like Renee just did not exist anymore except for the couple of times she was mentioned. I wish we knew more about some of the developments in Edward and Jacob's relationship, also. In another attempt to avoid spoilers, I will only say that something happens with Alice that I wish we knew a bit more about. These were all pretty minor things, especially the last two. Readers get enough information about the last two to understand them, but I would personally like to know more. The first one was more of an issue for me, but I could be overestimating how close Bella and her mother were in the first place.
I am now highly anticipating the release of Midnight Sun. I pre-ordered it immediately after finishing this book because I need more Twilight. I would highly recommend this book and series as a whole! Like with the other three books, this one has something in it for everyone. It is a bit of a larger book, but you enjoy it so much while reading that you blow through it. I can now fully recognize why this saga was so popular in the 2000s.
