Eclipse Review

Nearby to Forks, Seattle is experiencing numerous killings that police believe are the work of a serial killer. Meanwhile, Victoria continues her relentless revenge mission and the Volturi are awaiting Bella's transformation into a vampire. As if this is not enough, Bella's relationship with Jacob is strained, forcing her to finally choose between Edward and Jacob all with the knowledge that she will most likely lose one of them and possibly increase tension in their natural feud. Bella is almost done with high school, which means she has one last decision to make: does she truly want to become a vampire or would she rather continue her human life?

Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:

I am going to start off by saying this review is going to be fairly short for the same reason the reviews for the first two books were: I basically loved every aspect of the book. Since there are not many negatives worth talking about and too many positives, the review will not contain too much, and it will be slightly repetitive of the books one and two reviews.

Once again, Meyer shines when it comes to her characters- building, development, interactions, etc. There were quite a few new characters in this book. For example, Leah, Seth, and Riley. All were mostly minor characters, but Leah and Seth were established into the story very well, and I felt like I understood them both. Riley could have used more building, but I understand that this would have been difficult considering the book was from Bella's perspective, and he does not interact with her until towards the end.
The feud between Jacob and Edward was built up a bit more, but had moments where it was repressed a bit. I loved the scenes in which the two seemed to get along and come to some sort of understanding of each other. Of course, the feud was also fun to read as it was in the second book. The two have a fascinating relationship, and when Bella is thrown into the scene with them, it becomes even more interesting to read.
I really enjoyed the epilogue being from Jacob's perspective. I have to say that he may be my favorite character, and I have been interested in seeing things from his perspective, so the epilogue was really nice. I am not going to lie, it was a bit heartbreaking (I mean, seriously, the last sentence was so sad!), but it was done very nicely.
The action in this book compared to the others was just as good, if not better. I appreciated that the tactic behind the fight had a backstory and that we were able to learn it from Jasper. I have always felt that readers did not know him enough, but this book really fixed that. I definitely have a better understanding of him now, and I like him better because of it. I loved that we learned more about newborns. They are very cool and provide a good way of predicting the struggles we will see Bella face if she does decide to become a vampire.
I wish that we were able to see the fight between the Cullen family and wolves versus the newborns. This is another thing that cannot happen because the book is from Bella's point of view, and she is not present for that fight. However, it would have been nice if the author switched point of views to show readers that fight because I feel like I missed out on something there. That is really my only complaint with the book, and it is mostly justified, so it is hard to even argue that it is a true negative.
Overall, I did love the book and definitely highly recommend it for readers from YA age range up. I think both teens and adults can love and appreciate this book. It has something for everyone.
