Finale Review
Two months after the Fates are freed, Legend has claimed the throne, and Tella feels as if Dante does not exist. Tella is left having to decide if she should trust Legend or someone who she used to fight against. Once a secret is revealed, Scarlett faces an impossible task, and Legend himself has to decide something that will change his life forever. This last "game" will determine everything.
Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:
So, this book was a bit different from the first two books in that there is no actual Caraval game. For that reason, I was somewhat nervous about this book, but I was also excited to see where the author would take the story. I am please to say that I was not disappointed. Apparently, I had no need to worry because this author does not need to rely on an actual Caraval game to write a story well.
Since the story was what I was most concerned with, I'll just get that out of the way. It was great. I really loved getting to know more about the Fates and the Fallen Star in particular. This book goes deep into their powers and history with the exception of a few who do not make an appearance. The author did a great job introducing all of them completely.
The characters, as I have said many times in my reviews for the first two books, are all fantastic. All are very complex and deep, so they seem almost as if they are real people (I wish) and it was fun to see them interact with each other. The relationships they all had were also very complex. They took many different forms (ex: Tella and Jacks versus Tella and Legend), and all of the forms were built up very well.
There were quite a few darker things happening that really put me on the edge of my seat (or technically bed since that's where I read). However, there were many other romance parts that made me absolutely gush and smile and all of the other things that people do when they find out their favorite couple is getting more involved with each other.
The cover, map, and inside are all beautiful. This always makes me want to read a book more and keeps me happy at the start of a new chapter. I'm not sure why that is, but for whatever reason it keeps me excited. I also loved the bonus material at the end. This author always puts such great bonus material for this series, and I highly enjoy getting that extra bit of the magic.
There are many positive things I could say about this book and series in general, so I am going to stop now before the reviews becomes super long. I would certainly recommend this series and book. It is full of magic, mystery, action, romance, and betrayal plus some other stuff (basically a bit of something for everyone). In my opinion, this book definitely deserves all of its positive reviews, and I really hope the author gives us a bit more of the magic of Caraval. I would love to see some companion novels about the Fates (the Prince of Hearts, in particular), the start of Caraval, and a young Paloma. They were just some characters I was particularly interested in.
