P.S. I Still Love You Review
Lara Jean has actually fallen for Peter Kavinsky. They were just supposed to be pretending. Well, up until they point they weren't anymore. Lara Jean has never had a real relationship before, and they can be confusing. When you add on one of her past crushes reentering her life, things get even more complicated. She realizes that her old feelings are stirring. Is it possible that she is in love with both boys at once?
Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. This review is only my opinion, and you may have your own, different one. I would take into consideration what I say, but do not make a decision about the book solely based off of this review. Let's begin:
Once again, the characters are what made this book feel different and special. They are all very enjoyable and well written. Perhaps most importantly, they still feel real. I mentioned this when reviewing the first book, and I am pleased to be able to say it again. Every single one of the characters feels real, so it is very easy to connect with them. Essentially, everything I said about the characters in my first review still stands (*breathes sigh of relief that my favorite aspect of the book remained strong*).
The plot itself, while entertaining and enjoyable, is not something I have never seen before. Of course, it has its own little twists and variations, but it overall follows many common tropes of contemporary romance novels. I still love the tropes though, so I still love the plot. However, if you are tired of love triangles, maybe save this book for when you are ready for those again.
Similar to the first book, this is a very quick and easy read. It is simple to understand, but also like the first book, that adds to its charm. It is absolutely perfect if you want a feel-good read that won't take up much of your time.
The covers for this series, I have concluded, are just gorgeous. The colors and hand-written in Sharpie appearance of the title go perfectly and are very well suited to the books. I love them and they help make my bookshelves prettier (yay!).
I liked the bonus material for the first book better because, well, cookies! Even still, the bonus material for this book is very much appreciated and I will be sure to check out some of the songs included in the playlist. Considering I have my headphones in a lot, I am sure I will need new songs from it at some point, haha.
Overall, I would recommend this book for a quick, light, feel-good read. You will have to read about a common romance trope, but it is one that is widely loved and there are a lot of ways in which the plot is redeemed, if you want to say, so that you do not mind the trope. Also, if you like realistic characters, this series is a solid option.
P.S. (heehee- I had to) The movies did not do this book justice even more so than the first movie for the first book. Please, please, please do not judge based off of the movie and give the books a try if you have only seen the movies. The movie changed a lot of things and cut out a bunch of others, some that were my favorite parts of the book. I know that I personally prefer the books much more than the movies (though I still like the moves).
